Attorney – Teresa Rieger Housholder, J.D.
Teresa Rieger Housholder, J.D. graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City Law School in 1997 (where she was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers). She obtained a Bachelor of Science from Southwest Missouri State University in 1992 with a major in Psychology and a double minor in Criminal Justice Studies and Music-Vocal Performance.
Before opening her private practice in October of 2005, Mrs. Housholder spent 7 years with the Department of Social Services in the Litigation Unit from 1998 to 2005. She worked her way up from staff attorney to Deputy Assistant Director with the Protective Services Unit which specialized in handling issues dealing with children in foster care. As the Deputy Assistant Director she was responsible for supervising up to 7 attorneys handling 70-100 cases each in 3 different offices. She also drafted legislation and reviewed and prepared comments on proposed legislation affecting children in foster care.
When she first opened her practice, she specialized in solely in representing children. Now her practice covers dissolutions, child custody and child support, grandparent visitation, adoptions (domestic and international), guardianships (adult and minor), estate planning, name changes (adult and children) and appeals as well as other areas of law.
While in private practice, she was the Attorney for the 30th Circuit Juvenile Office handling status offenses, delinquency, child abuse and neglect, and, termination of parental rights from January of 2006 until May of 2013 and resumed that role in January of 2022.
Teresa was a member of the ChildProtect training panel originally offered by the National District Attorney Association in cooperation with the National Child Protection Training Center. ChildProtect is an intensive 5-day trial advocacy course designed to teach child protection and criminal prosecutors and attorneys handling civil dependency cases from across the nation how to prosecute a termination of parental rights case. Teresa was invited to be a member of the panel that established the training program and was honored to accept the invitation to be a faculty member for 3 of the 4 years the program was presented.
As a former member of the Sexual Offender Visitation Review Committee with the Missouri Department of Corrections, she assisted with setting up and implementing protective visitation policies for children visiting within the Missouri Department of Correction walls.
Teresa is a contributing author for the Juvenile Law and Administrative Law desk books published by the Missouri Bar. These desk books are used as practice guidebooks by attorneys and resource manuals for judges throughout the state practicing in the areas of juvenile or administrative law.
Teresa is the wife of Keith Housholder and the proud mother of Christopher. She is active in the community and has been involved in the Marshfield Parent Teacher Support Group, Marshfield Rotary Club, Marshfield United Methodist Church, Seymour Apple Festival, Marshfield Community Senior Housing group and many other organizations and events over the years.
Consultant/Paralegal – Keith Martin Housholder, J.D.
Keith Housholder graduated from the South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, 1997. He holds a Doctorate of Jurisprudence and obtained a liberal arts degrees in English and Sociology as well as a minor in Philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin. Keith trained to be a priest with the Jesuits of the New Orleans province where he worked with hospitals, schools, nursing homes, a home for handicapped and mentally disabled adults and an orphanage in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He is fluent in Spanish, having worked as a translator/teacher’s aide at the request of the Marshfield School District and has retained some use of his college level German.
Keith’s main duties are to prepare pleadings for Teresa’s review, research legal issues, interview clients (as is necessary), maintain the office’s advertising campaigns, and, performs the office’s handyman duties. Keith runs a website business on the side in which he has donated websites to local groups like the Heritage Celebration Trailways, the City of Marshfield, Marshfield Rotary Club and the Marshfield United Methodist Church, just to name a few.
When Keith moved to Missouri he worked for the Office of State Courts Administrator with the Supreme Court of Missouri. As a Court Specialist he worked on OSCA’s Statewide Court Automation and helped design the State of Missouri Case Information Portal (CASENET). He also helped design the State of Missouri’s electronic Traffic Reporting and was the State’s Probate Functional Fit leader and trainer where he prepared trainings and training materials for Appellate and Probate Clerks throughout the state. Keith has also worked for the Webster County Circuit Court as a Deputy Circuit Clerk.
Keith was a former law clerk for Judge Richard Hall in the 270th District Court in Harris County, Texas; a clerk for the Office of Attorney General – State of Texas; a bill analyst for the Texas House of Representatives; and, clerk for Representative Henry Cuellar in Laredo, Texas. He has 20+ years of experience in working in the area of probate and estate planning through his work with attorneys Sally Andrews and Cameron Vann in Texas.
He is active in the community and has been involved in the Marshfield Parent Teacher Support Group, Marshfield Parent As Teachers, Marshfield Rotary Club, and, Marshfield United Methodist Church and Marshfield’s Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He has served on the City of Marshfield Cemetery Board, the Marshfield Rotary Club board, and, the Marshfield United Methodist Church Children’s Ministry Board. |
